Mangalore: A teenage girl, who was trying to click pictures on the railway track at Nehru Nagar in Kabaka in Puttur on Sunday September 28, was run over by a train.

The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Varsha, daughter of Dayanand Alva and a resident of Konchady in Mangalore. Varsha was a student of Vivekanada Engineering College in Puttur.

According to the railway police, Varsha and her friends were clicking pictures of the moving trains standing adjacent to the train. In a fraction of time Varsha slipped and fell on the track and was run over by a speeding train.

Her friend Rachna was also injured in the attempt to rescue her.

The Railway police have registered a case.
