Mangaluru: A 38-year-old man of Tamil Nadu origin was stabbed to death by his relative on March 2 night at Padil Junction near Ideal Transport here.

The deceased Cheluvamani G, a Vellur resident was a lorry driver by profession. The police have arrested another lorry driver named Patrick Suresh, a relative of Cheluvamani in connection with the murder,

According to the police, Cheluvamani was transporting granites from Chitoor to Udupi whereafter he had arrived in the city and decided to park his lorry for the night near Ideal Transport at Padil. Patrick, who too had arrived in the city had taken a halt at Padil Junction. The duo got into a quarrel over some petty issue and Patrick stabbed Cheluvamani with a screwdriver lying nearby in a fit of rage.

Though rushed to a hospital, Cheluvamani succumbed to his injuries.

A case has been registered at Kankanady Town Police Station.
