Suspected explosives seized; Mangalore airport on high alert

Mangalore: CISF personnels have seized suspected explosives at Mangalore international airport here on September 13 from a passenger’s luggage.

The passenger is identified as Mohammed Abdul Khader from Uppala in Kasargod. CISF personnels stopped him as he was about to leave the airport. The passenger had booked the Jet Airways ticket to Dubai.

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) began to check lap top and other luggage of the passenger, they reportedly found explosive materials. The explosives were found in the form of liquid hidden inside the tab.

Police commissioner R Hitendra, DCP K V Jagadish, Panambur ACP Ravikumar along with bomb detection squad and canine squad rushed to the airport. It is learnt that also bomb squad from Bangalore has been called to the airport.

The seized explosive materials were cordoned off in an open area under the supervision of bomb squad.

However the accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is on.
