Mangalore : Two  I PUC students of a college in Mangalore  who were in love with each other, had reportedly attempted suicide by jumping into the break waters at Panambur on March 23, Sunday night. However, the girl survived the suicide bid, while a search is on for the boy who is reported missing.

The missing boy is Punith Kumar (17), a student of Sri Gokarnanatha College and a resident of Kulai. His father Upendra Salian has  lodged a complaint of missing in Panambur police station and search is underway for him on the basis of the statement of the girl.

The girl hails from Koorikatta in Baikampady. Sources say Punith did not do well in annual exams and was dejected. He had reportedly left home on Monday afternoon. Later the two chose to end lives in the night and jumped into the waters.

The girl who survived, had  later returned home. The boy however is missing.
