Bantwal: A girl student of Class 8 had to face the ire of an angry head mistress after the student revealed to officials that the school was not providing proper mid-day meals in the school.

The incident which took place at Balthila Neerapade ZP Higher Primary School witnessed a girl student complaining about the mid-day meal at a Grama Sabha meeting held for school students.

The girl pointed out that while earlier the school was providing food properly with curds, Chithranna and vegetables, this year round they were being served only rice and sambhar without any vegetables. Hence, the students were not taking the free meals. The officials left the meeting after warning the head mistress to take measures to improve the quality of mid day meals in future.

The head mistress to the girl to task once the officials left the school premises. An irked head mistres also used foul language, it is gathered. Out of fear, the girl collapsed. Other teachers rescued the girl and helped her regain consciousness.

The SDMC members and villagers protested against the head mistress and have urged the Block education Officer (BEO) to take action against her and transfer her immediately.
