Stolen car used for illegal cattle transport, one arrested

Moodbidri: The police have arrested an accused who was absconding in a case of illegal cattle transport. The arrested has been identified as Mohammad Salim alias Siri Saleem from Ullal Millath Nagar.

On December 1, near the papermill in Prantiya village, locals witnessed a mishap when an Alto car lost control and fell into the roadside drain. While those who were in the car fled immediately after the accident, a cow and lethal weapons were found inside the car. Locals when checked, found a cow which was transported in a inhuman manner. Soon police began investigation and seized the car.

However Mohammad Salim was arrested and during interrogation he accepted his crime. Other two culprits who were in car Farooq and Tameem are still absconding.

The car used for cattle transport had a fake registeration number and was stolen from Goa.

It is learnt that earlier murder attempt, murder and cattle transport cases in Ullal, Mangaluru East and Mangaluru rural police station were registered against Mohammad Salim.
