Mangaluru: As part of ‘Karavali Utsav’, there will be a two-day state level flood light Kabaddi tournament, which will be held at Nehru Maidan here from December 31.

Mayor Mahabala Marla, who heads Karavali Utsav Sports committee told reporters on Saturday that top six state ranked teams and top two local teams in the men’s and women’s section will participate in the tournament. 

The winners in both categories will receive Rs 1 lakh each; runners up will take home Rs 60,000 each and teams finishing third and fourth will receive Rs 30,000 each. There will also be individual prizes for best catcher, best raider, best all rounder who will get Rs 5000 each. Besides, athletes M.R Poovamma and Sahana Kumari will be part of the inaugural function. Kabaddi players Sukesh Hegde and Uday Chowta will be felicitated, he said.

Jayalaxmi, Boluru, Alva’s College, Moodbidri , Sporting Sports Club, Ullal and Vidyanjaneya Sports Club, Ullal 

In the women’s category:

Bengaluru – Amruthahalli Sports Club, Vijayanagara Sports Club, Matha Sports Club, Karnataka State Police, 

Mysuru Sports Club, Alva’s College, Moodbidri, SDM College, Ujire and Jayalaxmi, Boluru
