Mangaluru: The implementation of the Uniform Zonal Regulations-2017 as being mulled by the state Congress government will adversely affect the people in the coastal and Malnad regions, said former state minister and BJP leader Krishna J Palemar.

Further, he mentioned that the Congress government was planning implementation of these tough laws which will inconvenience the common people, particularly farmers in these regions who may find it difficult to build a house or conduct agricultural activities without bringing it to the notice of the people.

As per the new regulation, people would require to let go of 30 percent of land to the government at the time of registrations.

“When people purchase a piece of land spending huge amount, is it possible to a build house? This will also affect the farmers while dividing the property. Already people have to forgo their land for the road, and now the new regulation requires them to leave 30 percent of the land for the government,” said Palemar.

He demanded that the government form separate zonal regulations for coastal and Malnad regions keeping in mind the difference in the geographical conditions of these areas failing which, he warned that BJP would hold massive protests.

Dr. Y Bharath Shetty, Vedhavyasa Kamath and Ravishankar Mijar were present during the press meet.
