Mangaluru: Minister and Mangaluru constituency MLA U.T Khader said that the State Government has sanctioned Rs 40 lakhs to organize the 12th edition of Abbakka Utsava, which will be held at Thumbe, in the Bantwal limits.


Speaking to the reporters, Mr. Khader said that the annual event is being organized by Veerarani Abbakka Utsava Committee in association with the Department of Kannada and Culture. The program is scheduled to be held in January-end, he added.
As part of the Abbakka Utsava, the organizers will launch three documentaries titled ‘Rani Abbakka Rangadarshini’ on Sunday, December 21 at Tokkottu. The three documentaries feature yakshagana, drama and traditional dance, which are composed by renowned persons in their respective field, one of the committee member said.
During Abbakka Utsava, the organizers will felicitate Nadoja Dr. Kayyar Kijjanna Rai and senior folklorist Dr. Amritha Someshwara for their contributions to the Tulu culture.
