State govt in “Kumbhakarna” mode, alleges Prahlad Joshi

Mangalore:State BJP President Prahlad Joshi has urged the government to offer a minimum of Rs 25000 compensation per hectare to the areca growers who suffered losses due to Kole disease.

Speaking to reporters at the District BJP office on October 9,Wednesday,he said  the compensation of Rs 12000 announced by the government was insufficent. He said a delegation of BJP has already visited the affected plantations of the growers and has submitted a report to the chief minister.

On the death of cattle due to foot and mouth disease, Joshi said as many as 5000 cattle have died so far and urged for a minimum compensation of Rs 5000 per cattle.

On this occasion, Joshi chose to describe the state government as “Kumbhakarna” and alleged it had failed to implement any of the project announced in the budget. He was also critical of the Anna Bhagya scheme and said it had many loopholes.

Referring to the recent controversial statement of KPCC President Dr Parameshwar that it was ok for minorities not to repay their loans, Joshi said the incident revealed that the Congress and the state government were heading in different directions.

On the Yettinahole project,the State BJP President said the party would see to it that the project did not pose problems to the people. He said the party will also  urge the CM to  take the people into confidence before going in for the project.

DV  Sadananda Gowda, former CM,Nalin Kumar Kateel,MP,CT Ravi,former minister, Monappa Bhandari,MLC,Sunil Kumar,MLA,Pratap Sinha Nayak,District BJP President, Sulochana Bhat and others were present.
