Mangaluru: Special Olympics Bharat – Karnataka, was accredited by Special Olympics Bharat, National Sports Federation and Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports here at the Town Hall on Monday, March 28.

The felicitation was organized by Karnataka State Association for Special Educators and Supportive Staff, Bengaluru.

Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo, in his presidential address said that organizing sports for specially abled is not an easy job as it requires lot of efforts.

“I appreciate the contribution of different institutions in Dakshina Kannada district in serving specially abled children. The government will recognize your efforts and give its assistance,” he said.

Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim stressed on the involvement of specially abled children to make them feel confident.

“We can engage these children in sports to make them feel good physically and mentally. I request the new office bearers to work with love and affection,” he said.

“On behalf of district administration, I assure to give Mangala Stadium for the sports activities whenever organized without any charges,” he added.

Special Olympics Bharat- Karnataka new office bearers Vasanth Kumar Shetty, Area director, Jagadeesh Shetty, Treasurer, Mahabala Maarla, Vice President, Fr Francis, Vice President, Amarendra Anjanappa, State Sports Director, Mahesh Kumar, State Technical Director, Maria Shruthi A C, expert in M R, Mohammed Basheer, Family Committee President, Dhanraj, athlete and Yashodhamma, State Training in-charge were honored at the occasion.

Nartional awardee Archana was felicitated at the occassion.

A Sadananda Shetty, Chairman, Shree Devi Institutions and others were present at the occasion.
