St. Agnes College Student Cabinet installed

Mangalore : A thirty four member student cabinet  of the St. Agnes College (Autonomous)  for the academic year 2014 – 15, was sworn in and installed on Saturday the 28th of June 2014 at the St. Agnes College Auditorium today. The theme for the year was ” Promise Less, Deliver More”

The ceremony  started with a prayer in hindi sung by a team of Agensians.  This was followed by the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Dr. Sr. Licera AC, Dr. Sr. Prem D’Souza, Principal, Dr. Sr. Supriya, Vice Principal, Dr. Sr. Jeswina AC,  Staff Coordinator and Pamela D’Costa, student  president.

The Oath of office was administered by Dr. Sr. Prem D’Souza, the principal of the College. Each of the Student Representatives, read out from a scroll, their plans for the year.

Dr. Sr. Liceira, AC, Former Principal of the Patna Women’s College, Patna, Bihar, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. During her address, she  exhorted the students to walk the talk. “Do not let the theme remain a theme, but put it into action”, she said. She quoted the example of Gautam Buddha, to tell the students that their words and deeds will always come back to them, so they must be careful. She also quoted the example of the founder of the Apostolic Carmel Order, Mother Veronica. She told the students,that it was  Mother Veronica who had brought them together and that like her they must do their calling, work hard and lead by example. She wished them all the best for their leadership during the year.

The Student Cabinet consists of the President, Pamela D’Costa, Four vice presidents representing the five faculties, Arts, Science, Commerce, BCA and BBM and 29 other representatives who represent various associations and activities .

The Arts faculty was represented on the Cabinet by Beverly Fernandes, Science by Jasmine Thomas, Commerce by Nelvita  Noronha and BBM by Hebah Abdul Majeed.

The Ceremony was efficiently compered by Mrs. Ameetha Kumari, Department of Zoology. Prof. Sarama Jayaraj.  HOD, Dept. of Zoology welcomed the gathering.  The Cabinet was presented to the audience by Mrs. Emima David and Mrs. Vidya, of the Department of Zoology and Dr. Noeline Pinto of the Dept. of Botany expressed gratitude to all concerned for the success of the programme.
