Mangalore: Sahyadri Samrakshana Sanchaya (SSS) organised the protest againt the Yettinahole project here on Friday on Independence Day, near Town Hall.
Yettinahole project pulled many associations together, speaking on this president of SSS; Dinesh Holla said that more than 20 associations have come across for the protest of Yettinahole project.





Avinand Achanally, General Secretary of All Student College Association expressed that even intellectual people lack awareness regarding this project as well as Western Ghats.
He alleged that coastal people are least bothered of the issue and even the state government is keen to launch the project.
Speaking about the Western Ghats as well as biodiversity, Achanally cited that Western Ghats is the life line for the coastal people likewise Netravathi river.
The purpose of this protest was to invoke the diluted feeling towards the Yetinahole project. Besides, protesters demanded state government to take this issue seriously, whereas a common meeting and an action plan is necessary to undertake in order to save the river.
Moreover, before the protest, SSS honoured the statue of Mahatama Gandhi on Independence Day.
