Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district Congress President Harish Kumar said that KPCC has given ticket to SP Dinesh from Shivamogga as a candidate for the South-West graduate constituency for the Legislative Council elections, which will held in 2018. As per the direction of AICC, SP Dinesh has already started campaigning for the elections. SP Dinesh had contested the last elections held in 2012 for South-West graduates’ constituency, but had lost with a very narrow margin against BJP’s veteran leader DH Shankarmurthy.
He said that, emphasizing on upcoming elections, the Congress in district has already started workshop and conventions in various constituencies. Such conventions were held successfully in Puttur and Sullia constituencies and in coming days it will be held in all constituencies of Dakshina Kannada. He also said that to strengthen the party in the district for up coming assembly elections, party has taken initiative like for ‘one booth one leader’ and ‘One booth Ten youth’. Every Congress member, irrespective of his position has to work for his booth.
Congress candidate SP Dinesh said that he will be speaking to voters in all the 16 blocks in eight constituencies of DK district.
This South-Western graduates’ constituency comprises Shimoga, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Chikmagalur, Kodagu; Honnali and Channagiri taluks in Davanagere district.
