Belthangady: A shocking incident occurred in the village of Kambaladadda, situated in Belthangady taluk when a son-in-law made an attempt on his father-in-law’s life by striking him with a scooter.

The injured party, identified as Ibrahim (60), is a resident of Kambaladadda in Mittabagal village. This unfortunate incident was caused by Mohammed Shafi, who is married to Ibrahim’s daughter. Currently, Ibrahim is receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Mangaluru. Belthangady police station has filed a case against Mohammed Shafi.

The family was embroiled in a dispute, primarily revolving around financial matters, with Mohammed Shafi, the son-in-law, not contributing to the household expenses. In an effort to reconcile matters, Ibrahim, the father, had been attempting to resolve these issues. However, it is alleged that Mohammed Shafi, fueled by animosity, deliberately struck his father-in-law, Ibrahim, with a two-wheeler while they were walking, in an apparent attempt to cause harm.

On November 2, a resident of Mittabagal village, Mohammed Rafeeq, filed a complaint with the Belthangady police. He reported that his father, K.H. Ibrahim Shafi (60), had gone to drop off children and women at his elder sister’s house for an event at Kajur mosque. Concerned when his father hadn’t returned home by night, Mohammed Rafeeq rode to Kambaladadda on a scooter to inquire about his father’s whereabouts. There, he came upon a scene where a scooter had collided with a man on a nearby public road.

Upon reaching the scene, I discovered my father lying on Damaru Road, and observed Mohammad Shafi, my sister’s husband, assaulting his own father. The accused abandoned my scooter at the scene and fled in haste.
