Small Scale Industry likely to come up in 25-50 acre land

Mangaluru: Managing Director of Karnataka Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Mohammad Mohisin, on Saturday January 2, informed that he has kept forth a proposal before the district Deputy Commissioner to allocate about 25-50 acre land to setup an estate Small Scale Industry (SSI).

The industrial estate thus setup will be a part of Make In India initiative introduced by the Central government.

In response, DC AB Ibrahim said that there is land available at Badaga in Ekkar and also in Puttur. He said that he will earmark land after a detailed study. In case government land cannot be granted, Mohisin said that private land will be purchased for the purpose.

He said that SSI will certainly provide employment to more people as large industries are mainly mechanized.

Mohisin also proposed converting of the Baikampady Industrial Area into a township. Under this project, if any of the organizations under Kanara Small Industries Association come forward to take charge, they will be handed over the initiative to manage water supply, sewage and lights in the industrial area.

Meanwhile several entrepreneurs complained of irregularities. Their allegations included encroachment of the government land in the Yeyyady Industrial Estate, incorrect allocation of plots and lax attitude of officials. Mohisin said that he is on a state-wide tour to hear grievances from entrepreneurs in the small scale sector and would respond after verifying details.
