Bantwal: In an apparent bid to avoid a slithering cobra on the road, a private bus swerved to the right to collide with an oncoming Maruti car on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru national highway at Mani here on February 2. The mishap caused serious injuries to the Omni driver and even the cobra was killed.

Mohan (32), a resident of Karaya near Uppinangadi at the wheels of Omni suffered serious injuries in the accident in which the car was completely smashed.

Mohan was driving from Mangaluru towards Uppinangady while the bus was plying towards Mangaluru.

Injured Mohan was shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

Vittal police have registered a case.
