
Mangaluru: In a first for St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, an international conference on the subject, Smart Computing Communication and Control was hosted by the institution.
The department of computer science and engineering, department of electronics and communication engineering, department of electrical and electronics engineering and department of computer applications contributed significantly in organising the conference, that was inaugurated by Dr. L M Patnaik, Adjunct Professor, IISc Bengaluru and INSA senior scientist on Monday, June 11.
In his inaugural address, Dr. L M Patnaik while stressing on the importance of the conference said that these conferences provide a forum for researchers and faculties to put forth their work and gain valuable feedback, suggestions. Hence, this kind of conferences, that help the growth of individuals through discussions on relevant topics should be given due importance. He wished luck to all the delegates participating in the conference.
Addressing the gathering Ramakrishna Bidri, senior agile coach – SWET CoE, Alliance technology unit, TCS Bengaluru, the chief guest of the conference said that he was impressed with the institution’s vision and mission when he initially joined it and he was glad to be part of such an event which is beneficial to students considering the exposure that they give.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director of SJEC congratulated SJEC principal Rio D’Souza under whose leadership the institution was hosting its very first international conference with due support from the four departments of the college. He hoped that the international conference will be a huge success just like the national-level conferences hosted by the institution earlier.
Dr. Rio D’Souza, Principal of SJEC termed the day as a historic one as the institution was hosting its very first international conference on smart computing communication control.
The gathering was welcomed by conference convener Sreenath Acharya while the vote of thanks was proposed by Gandhimathinathan.
Assistant director SJEC Rohit D’Costa was also present.
