Mangalore: The 61 families were given the compensation under the National Family Benefit Scheme(NFBS) today in a ceremony held in the NGO hall in Mangalore.
Speaking on the occasion the MLA of Mangalore south constituency, JR Lobo said that “first and foremost i congratulate the officials of the revenue dept. for speeding up the process in the distribution of the compensation. The early we distribute the compensation the more we reduce the tears of the families of the deceased. In the city area we may not come to know about the activities of the revenue dept. but in the rural areas this dept. serves the people the most.”
Later he distributed compensation of Rs.10,000 each to 61 families under the NFBS scheme and Rs. 1,50,000 to the family of the deceased women from Attavar who got drowned in water.
In charge-Tahsildar Shri. Shivkumar was present at the occasion. Revenue inspector Hasan Vitla was the MC of the program.
National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) is a component of National Social. Assistance Program(NSAP). Under National Family Benefit Scheme, Central Assistance is given in the form of lump sum family benefit for households below the poverty line on the death of the primary breadwinner in the bereaved family. The amount of benefit is Rs.10000/- in case of death of primary breadwinner due to natural or accidental causes. The family benefit is paid to such surviving member of the household of the deceased.
