Kasaragod: Six persons including the main accused were arrested from Kasaragod and Pune in connection with a case in which fake credit cards were used for transactions worth several lakhs of rupees.
Talangare Numan (24) along with three others was arrested from Pune. Basheer and L Hamza from Vittal were arrested at Kasaragod. The mastermind behind the fraud, Muhammed Sabir (19) was arrested in Kochi a few days back. Fake credit cards manufacturing machine and credit card swiping machine was seized in Pune along with over 100 fake credit cards and car. Several customers had lost huge amounts due to the alleged fraud.
According to police sources, a person named Numan, working in Dubai led the entire fraud while working at a super market. He copied the details of several credit cards in the super market, prepared fake credit cards and defrauded. It is known that he used to copy details from the cards by attaching the swiping machine to another machine. Numan continued the same on his visit to the town as well. He was nabbed along with his companions in Pune.
Sources said that the team had plans to commit similar frauds in Mumbai too. The details are expected to roll out once the police conclude its investigation.
