Mangaluru: The chirpy Bollywood playback singer Neha Kakkar took the coastal city of Mangaluru by storm in a concert called ‘Imperial Blue Superhit Nights India Thumakada’ held at Nehru Maidan on Saturday, January 5.
With a fusion of band music, visual arts, multi-coloured lights and heady sounds, the two-hour music spectacle enthralled the audience with Neha Kakkar’s unrivalled singing talent.
Her exemplary voice, peppy moves and rock-star-like aura left the revelers enjoying her blockbuster songs. From Dilbar Dilbar, Kala Chasma, Aankh Marey, Ladki Kar gayi Chul, Sunny Sunny, London Thumakkda to Mile jo tum humko, Neha knew the pulse of her audience.
Neha has been singing from a very young age. She started her journey when she participated in Indian Idol 2, but couldn’t make it to the finals. After elimination, she concentrated on playback singing. She stepped into the industry with the album ‘Neha the Rock Star’ composed by Meet Bros in 2008.
There are several recreational songs that have been sung by Neha, which today are ranking high on the charts, such as Aankh Marey, Dilbar Dilbar, etc.
While speaking at a press conference at the Hotel Taj Gateway before the show, Neha, agreeing that there is a trend of recreation and repetitiveness of the old songs, said earlier people were sceptical about the recreation, but today the audience loves to hear those old songs in a new way. She added that once the audience loses interest in recreation, it wouldn’t be made the next time.
The singer had recently shared a post on Instagram where she mentioned that she is in depression and requested the people to let her live happily. When asked about this, Neha said that all that she wanted from the people was to not make false claims and statements.
“I haven’t wronged anybody, so I deserve to live happily. I see people floating rumours. I want all that to stop,” she said thanking her parents who stood by her in her bad times.
Indian Idol 10 judge Neha Kakkar has certainly got a singing calibre, but what sets her apart from the eminent female singers that are already present in the music industry? “I work hard, I believe in myself and people have to come to me because I believe there is no other Neha Kakkar,” she replied with a laugh.
On actors walking away with the credit for every hit song in Bollywood, she said that today the audience recognises her voice and appreciates her efforts too.
