Mangaluru: The newly appointed Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Roopesh assumed charge as the 129th Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, on Saturday, September 7.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Roopa welcomed the new Deputy Commissioner with a bouquet.

Sindhu is the second woman Deputy Commissioner of the district. Earlier, Ranjani Shrikumar had served as the Deputy Commissioner of undivided Dakshina Kannada district in the year 1989. It is the first time in the history of Dakshina Kannada district that both Deputy Commissioner and Additional Deputy Commissioner are women.

Sub-divisional officer Ravichandra Naik and Mangaluru Tahasildar Guruprasad were also present on the occasion.
