Shootout at local eatery: Two injured

Mangaluru: In a shocking incident, two people were injured in a shootout that broke out at an eatery in Falnir in the city on Friday evening. Of the two, one suffered gunshot wounds.

The injured are staff members of the MFC hotel & Fresh Mart. According to a report by TOI, a fight broke out over the quality of samosas, which later snowballed into a shootout.

Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Vikash Kumar Vikash informed that the incident took place at around 5 PM on Friday. Four youths entered the eatery and soon, an argument broke out between them and the staff over the taste and quality of samosas. The fight blew out of proportions and the parties started manhandling each other.

He added that the youths ransacked the eatery and broke the furniture and other equipment. When they tried to flee, the staff caught to of the four youths and one of those who escaped, fired at the staff members.

Two of the arrested are locals and the search is on for the two who escaped, the compol informed. The two arrested were also injured in the incident and are being treated at Wenlock hospital.

Senior police officials rushed to the spot soon after the incident and a case has been registered at the Mangaluru South police station.
