Mangaluru: Shiradi ghat road work is almost finished and the National Highway may be available for the vehicular movement from July 15 after works on retaining wall and few others are over, said Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil.

Speaking at the Dakshina Kannada District Development Coordination and in-Charge Committee meeting here on Saturday, Senthil said, “Though it was planned to open the road from July 5, at present 12.30 km road work has been completed and 380-meter concrete work is under progress. Some more time is required to complete shoulder construction, retaining wall construction etc,” he explained.

Following the collapse of the Mularapatna bridge, the DC informed that the National Highway Authority of India experts are inspecting major bridges. The capacity of the Gurupura bridge was reviewed recently and a report would come within 2 days. Based on the report, required steps will be initiated, he said.
