Mangaluru: Shakthi Residential School and Shakthi P.U.College, in association with Mangaluru University held ‘Plogging Programme’ (Jogging and picking litters), on Sunday, January 26.

The programme was inaugurated by president of Konchady Venkatramana temple president D Vasudev Kamath. Kamath said, ” Shakthi’s ‘plogging programme’ was organised as part of union government’s ‘Fit India Movement, a nation-wide movement to encourage people to remain healthy. As there was a tremendous response for ‘Swacch Bharath’ in Mangaluru’, plogging programme would also achieve success.”

Mangalore University Finance Officer Dr. Shripathi Kalluraya being present at the programme informed about the importance of maintaining cleanliness.

Kudremukh Iron Company managing Director M.V Subba Rao, said, “every one of us should involve ourselves in cleaning our surrounding.”

Principal Vidya Kamath G instructed the gathering about the conditions to be followed while plogging programme.

Students and staff of Shakthi Residential School and College, along with the members of various organisatiosn, jogged and picked the litters from Padavinangadi, Kavoor. K.E.B.Colony, K.H.B colony, KIOCL Colony and the surrounding areas.

Shri Gopalakrishna Temple managing trustee K C Naik presided over the programme. Administrator Baikady Janardhan Achar welcomed the gathering and Bhavyashri proposed vote of thanks. Srinivas B M compered the programme. General Physician Dr. Bharath Kumar M, Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samiti president Rama Mugrody, Sridevi Engineering College Director Prakash, Padavinangadi Lions Club president Mohan Das Shetty, corporators Sangeetha Naik, Jayananda Anchan, chief advisor Ramesh K, Institute Development Officer Prakhyath Rai and others were present.
