Bantwal: A 30-year-old man has been accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl from a village near Bantwal. The girl is said to have delivered a child in a government hospital.

According to Superintendent of Police Sharanappa S.D., family members of the girl filed a complaint after she gave birth to the child in a government hospital on Tuesday morning.

Mr. Sharanappa said the police have registered a case of sexual assault under Section 376 of Indian Penal Code and also under provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Currently the police are said to be questioning the accused person.
