Moodabidri: Renowned Tenkatittu Yakshagana senior artiste and state award winner Mijaru Annappa(93) passed away here on Sunday, April 3.
He is survived by wife, a son and a daughter.
He was born to Koraga Gowda and Parvathy in 1923 at Mijaru village. He finished his primary education at Shri Vani Vilasa School in Ashwathapura.
He developed interest in Yakshagana art form since his early childhood and learnt the art from veteran Yakshagana artiste Sannapparaya. He has entertained the audience as a comedian for more than 50 years.
He has donned various important roles such as Naladamayanti’s Bahuka, Papanna Vijaya’s Papanna, Sathya Harishchandra’s Kouka Bhatta, Koti Chennaya’s Payya Baidya, Bedara Kannappa’s Kashimani etc.
He won state award in the year 1992. He has also won Tulu Sahitya Academy Award and was felicitated in Dubai-Bahrain too.
