The initiative was taken by the PG students of Roshni Nilaya to enlighten the society about the concern with regards to the Neravati River Diversion.
Veteran social and consumer activist Ravindranath Shanbagh addressing the seminar said, “the cost of Yettinahole Project which was Rs 8,323 crores during the commencement of the project has reach to an extensive amount of Rs 13000 crores in 2014 and till the project is concludes the estimated amount will reach up to Rs 23000 crores, he ridiculed the project and said that people may then prefer Bisleri water which may tend to be cheaper than investing in the project.”
“As per the notification given by the government of India in 2009, any drinking water project does not need a clearance from the environmentalist organizations as well a public hearing is not needed, but the project plans to deliver water for industrial purposes, which is questionable.
