Kasaragod: More than 60 two-wheelers seized by the police over traffic rule violation are piled up at the city police station in Kasaragod since last three months as the officials have failed to trace their owners.
The bikes seized are left unattended as the cops failed to trace the owners. The thieves usually remove the registration number plates of stolen vehicles to hoodwink cops.

The traffic police had carried out an operation and seized over 1500 two-wheelers over wrong number plates, helmets, indicator, lack of documents and under-aged bikers. Only when the owners provide necessary documents, the vehicles were returned. Many of the bikes are lying at the station as the owners failed to turn up for more than three months.

When the officials inspected the vehicles at RTO, it was revealed that most of the numbers were fake. It is suspected that the vehicles with wrong number plates were used for illegal liquor sale, sand mafia and other illegal activities.

Police are further investigating the matter.
