Bantwal: A security guard working in Infosys campus in Mudipu was knocked to death by a speeding bike near Melkar junction on January 27.

Mohan Manjappa Rai (50), a resident of Kuriyady in Ira and native of Virajpet is the deceased.
He had alighted from a car on his way back home after attending a religious function, accompanied by his brother-in-law. The accident took place while he was trying to cross the road after buying few items.
He was rushed immediately to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead.
According to his brother-in-law who witnessed the accident from the car, reckless and rash riding by the biker claimed Manjappa’s life.
Not long ago, a cop had lost his life on the same stretch. Lack of adequate measures in controlling traffic and poor parking arrangement are leading to multiple accidents despite sufficient road width, say locals.
Bantwal traffic police have registered a case.
