Bantwal: Social Democratic party Kariyangala unit protested against hike in water price, highly polluted and unclean water and improper supply of water here on Friday.

SDPI Dakshina Kannada district secretary Kusappa,  said that the members will hold protest if the Kariyangala Gram panchayat continues anti-citizen policies.

The protest was held in front of Kariyangala gram panchayat under SDPI Kariyangala village committee against improper water supply and installation of meters.

In Ammunje which falls under Kariyangala limits, water price has been hiked all of a sudden and notice has been issued by Kariyangala Panchayat. The water has not been supplied properly. The protesters demanded that they should fix minimum price of Rs 50 for water.

20000 litre for each family should be supplied for Rs 50. The metre should be installed by the panchayat itself, they demanded.

The protesters shouted slogans against Kariyangala panchayath president and PDO. They brought polluted water in bottles for demonstration and displayed it on the stage. If the issue has not been resolved, the protest will be intensified, they said.

SDPI district secretary Riyaz Farangipete, Kariyangala SDPI President Usman Kulai, SDPI members Mohammad, Sadaqat, Razzaq, Muhamman Badakabailu, Stany Menezes, Sheena Shetty Kalai were present.
