Scuba diving at Kaup beach from Nov 1

Mangaluru: The adventurists can soon include Kaup beach, otherwise well-known for the Mariamma Temple and the historic light house among the places to visit here to get a feel of underwater marine life. The district administration is planning to introduce scuba diving at the Kaup beach.

West Coast Adventures, a private firm has been chosen to run the scuba diving here after floating a tender.

Pawan Shourie, CEO of West Coast Adventures, speaking to newskarnataka.com, said that the district administration had provided the opportunity to start scuba diving in Kaup beach. “Initially, the firm will conduct test for successful scuba diving. After setting up full-fledged facilities, we will start the scuba diving with introductory and special packages for divers.”

He also confirmed that scuba diving at the Kaup beach would start from November 1.

B R Anitha, Assistant Director, Tourism Department also confirmed the introduction of scuba diving at Kaup beach.

Scuba diving is been planned in an islet, 8 kilometers away from the sea shore. People will be ferried to the islet in a speed boat along with experts by the firm. The firm can run scuba diving for 8 months in a year.
