Mangalore : Panambur police who are investigating into the case of suspicious death of scrap merchant Abdul Rashid of Kudroli, have on June 27, Thursday arrested his wife Naseema (36), Mohammad Imran said to be her paramour and Saleem (38), the husband of Naseemas younger sister.
It is now learnt that Naseema and Saleem had hired professional killers to eliminate Rashid who was coming in the way of Naseemas extra-marital relationship with Imran. Police have spread a dragnet for the arrest of two other accused namely Abdulla alias Kalia, a notorious criminal from Manjeshwar and one Mukri Siddique.
Investigations revealed that Naseema and Saleem had hired Kalia for Rs one lakh to eliminate Rashid. Police said on the night of June 20, Naseemas had mixed sleeping pills in Rashids food, making the task of the killers easy. After eliminating Rashid by hitting his head with an iron rod at around 1.30 am, they reportedly threw the body in Gurupur river.
Meanwhile, police investigating into the case grew suspicious as there were marks of injury on Rashids body. The Panambur SI Bharathi took Naseema and three others to custody and during interrogations, the truth stood exposed. Police and finger prints also found blood stains in the cotton fill of the bed at home, though Naseema after the murder had taken pains to clean up the entire house.
It is learnt, Rashid who picked up frequent quarrels with his wife over her affair had even planned to take her along on an Umrah pilgrimage and had arranged for passport and air tickets. But as fate would have it, he was eliminated by his wife even before that.
The investigations were held under the guidance of Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar, DCPs Mutturaya and D Dharmaiah.
