Mangaluru: The tenth annual CME workshop ‘Scientia – 2020’ was organised by the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology of Father Muller Medical College at the Decennial Memorial Hall on Saturday, February 1.

The chief guest of the inauguration ceremony was Yenepoya Medical College Pathology Department head Dr Ramdas Nayak. FMCI Director Fr Richard Coelho presided over the programme.

After a prayer invocation and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, chief guest Dr. Nayak addressed the gathering. Listing out a few tips to keep oneself happy, he said, “One of the most important things to remember are the three Cs. Don’t criticize anybody if you want to be happy. The second thing is don’t try to change anybody because you cannot change unless they want to change.”

“Third is, don’t compare yourself with anybody,” he added.

In his presidential address, Fr Richard Coelho said, “The Mangaluru Diocese has declared this year as the ‘Year of Life’ and therefore, your health is in your hands. Today, all clinicians and consultants are dependent on laboratory medicine. Thus, lab medicine has become an integral part of our healthcare.”

“Sometimes, errors do take place in the lab reports. But we have the capacity to give accurate reports that are on time. Thus, all of you have come here to be better technicians and professionals in this field,” he said.

Veteran lab technicians, professors, and medical suppliers were felicitated at the event.

The CME workshop witnessed the participation of nearly 350 delegates from various medical colleges.

Earlier, FMMC Dean Jayaprakash Alva welcomed the gathering and organising secretary Ramya Satheesh delivered the vote of thanks.

FMCI Administrator Fr Ajith Menezes, organising chairman Dr. Suman and others were present.
