Mangalore : The RuPay Kisan Card and RuPay Debit Card newly introduced by the South Canara District Central Co-operative Bank for the benefit of its customers, were released on February 25, Tuesday. G.R. Chintala, General Manager of NABARD, Bangalore released RuPay Kisan Card, while the RuPay Debit Card was released by Rajendra Poojar, Deputy General Manager of IDBI.






Speaking on the occasion, M.N. Rajendra Kumar, Chairman of the SCDCC Bank said the SCDCC Bank which has been progressing by leaps and bounds since the past 20 years has today reached a business of Rs 1,829 crores. He said RuPay Kisan Cards are being distributed to 95000 farmer members with assistance from NABARD. He said this was a first of its kind of initiative in the nation. In the first phase, cards are distributed to farmers and the same would be extended to all customers in the days to come.
He said the RuPay Cards can be used in ATM centres of any bank in any part of the nation. A micro ATM machine would be set up in all the 166 primary co-operative societies and SCDCC Bank branches in the twin districts, he informed. Rajendra Kumar further said RuPay Cards will be linked with Aadhaar numbers in the days to come to avail of government subsidy.
R Vittal Swami, General Manager of NABARD, Vijaykumar, Deputy Manager, Gopalkrishna Bhat, Managing Director of SCDCC Bank and others were present.
