SC/ST grievance resolution meeting held by SP

Mangalore: The monthly SC/ST grievance meeting chaired by superintendent of police Dr Sharanappa S D.was held at the SP’s office here on Sunday August 4.

Addressing the complaint of the community, Sharanappa said that with reference to cases related to rape, a preliminary inquiry will be carried out and action will be taken against the accused named in the complaint based on  prima facie evidence.

However several false complaints are also made, and in some of the cases, innocent people are being punished. If the complaint seems to be false, people should inform the officials at the earliest, he added.

With regards to false complaints, Sharanappa said, When proof is provided, it will be scientifically investigated to find out the truth. Strict action will be taken against persons who give false complaints.

Dalit leaders and others from the community brought-up several issues during the meeting to which SP assured action.   

District additional SP T P Shivakumar, Dalit members, and police officers were also present at the meeting.

Resolution to Zonal and Taluk complaints

People who stay in villages face many problems in reaching the SP office in the city for which the SP assured that in coming days the Zonal and taluk level complaints will be received by me at a particular assigned place in the coming days.

Hence, villagers can go to the nearest police station or to the taluk headquarters and register their complaint.

Seminar to enlighten new rules

During the meeting the SP informed that a seminar for police officers about the newly-implemented rules and regulations will be held.

A Zonal level seminar will be held on August 6 whereas a district level seminar will be held after August 15.
