Mumbai/Mangaluru: Tulu Koota Pune celebrated its 19th anniversary on Monday, August 15 in Karvenagar, Mumbai. Sarvotham Shetty of UAE Tuluver was the chief guest on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Sarvotham Shetty said, “Tulu Koota Pune has organised this function in a beautiful manner. The beauty and richness of Tulu has united all the Tuluvas in Pune through this association. We need to teach Tulu language to our children and preserve it. All Tuluvas need to come together to promote Tulu.” He also called upon Tuluvas to make the upcoming Vishwa Tuluvere Ayana programme in Badiyadka a successful one.

Tulu Koota Pune president Taranath K Rai Meginaguthu presided over the programme. Writer Shimanthur Chandrahas Suvarna, Mumbai and Bunts Association Pune president Jaya Shetty Miyar were present on the occasion. Sadananda Group of Hotels director and Shri Gurudeva Seva Balaga Pune president Sadananda K Shetty was honoured on the occasion. Meritorious students of the association were also honoured on the occasion.

Chandrahas Suvarna expressed concern over decline in the usage of Tulu and called upon to strengthen its existence.

Jaya Shetty wished success to Pune Tuluvas in their future endeavors.

Sadananda Shetty, after felicitation said, “I do not expect any felicitation, but I accept it for your love and respect.” He called upon the association to organise debates on Tulu every month.

Taranath Rai in his presidential address urged all Tuluvas to contribute in promoting and preserving the rich Tulu culture and make the present generation understand its worth.

Tulu Koota members presented cultural programme on the occasion and a short play ‘Daiva Sanidhya’ was also presented by Divakar Shetty Manibettu and team. Kishore D Shetty’s Shri Lalithe team presented ‘Katildalle Ullalthi’ devotional play on the occasion.
