Samiti urges M’luru police commissioner to crack whip on drug peddlers

Mangaluru: A delegation led by Sarvajanika Hitarakshana Samiti, Kulur met the city police commissioner and urged him to act against drug peddling that has dire affects on the society including young children.

Citing increase in the number of drug addicts in Panjimogaru area the delegation members said, many have taken to drugs in the recent past, result of which unlawful incidents like robbery, murder and sexual abuse are on the rise. These incidents are disturbing peace in the area with far-reaching effect on the society, they alleged.

They demanded a total crack down on the active drug mafia and urged the police department, to get to the roots of the network. They said the drug dealers are active in places like Rahikatte, Manjatty, Urundady and Malady. The nefarious activity has not spared even schools and colleges in the area, where children and youth are taking special liking to drugs, they said.

The delegation led by DYFI state president Muneer Katipalla included Samiti convener Dayanand Shetty,Mohammad Ali,Ahmed  Bashir, Guruchandra Hedge,Charan Shetty and Santhosh among others.
In the end, the delegation submitted a petition to the city police commissioner highlighting their grievances.
