Belthangadi: Rural Development and Self Employment Training Institute (RUDSETI) monitored by the National Centre for Excellence of RSETIs, under the guidance of Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. D Veerendra Heggade and National Director K N Janradhan has bagged the ASSOCHAM “National Entrepreneurship Development Award” for 2017.
The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) is a national level organisation with 4.5 lakh members and 400 member companies in business sector. ASSOCHAM, inorder to promote self employment, entrepreneurship and skill development has instituted awards for entrepreneurship development in individual and corporate category.
RUDSETI has been awarded the ASSOCHAM award for 2016-17 in the non-governmental organisations category. Veerendra Heggade, Co-Chairman, National Level Advisory Committee (NLAC) on RSETIs has contributed immensely in the formation of RUDSETI.
RUDSETI established in 1982 in assocaition with lead banks such as Syndicate Bank and Canara Bank has been in the forefront in generating employment during the last three-and-half decades. In all, 586 micro units are functioning under RUDSETI at national level.
In the year of 2008, the ministry of rural development allowed RUDSETI to establish micro units in cooperation with the leading banks. Accordingly, 586 units were established across the state while training 24.20 lakh unemployed youth. A total of 15.70 lakh people (both men and women) are self employed and have established their own businesses. In recognition of its efforts, RUDSETI has received the National Entrepreneurship Award for the year 2016-17.
At a grand ceremony of Skilling India, summit cum awards ceremony held at Hotel Lalit at New Delhi on August 9, K N Janardhan received the prestigious award from the Union Minister of State Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) in the presence of Patnaik, Chief Manager, Canara bank and Ashokan, Chief Manager, Syndicate Bank. The award is a reflection of Dr. Veerendra Heggade’s immense contribution towards the cause for which the award has been instituted.
Sandeep Jajodia,President, ASSOCHAM; Prof. S Parasuraman, Director, TISS; Dr. Balvir Thomar, Vice Chancellor, NIMS University; Manish Kumar, Managing Director and Chief Executive officer of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and D S Rawat, secretary, ASSOCHAM were present on the occasion.
