RTA revises minimum auto fare to Rs 25

Mangalore : The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has revised  autorickshaw fares after  the meeting with auto rickshaw drivers and owners held last week. The minimum fare would now be Rs 25 with effect from January 15.

As the current fare is Rs 20, during the meeting the auto rickshaws drivers association had requested the DC to  increase the fare to at least Rs 30, but keeping  in mind his  promise to revise the fare  in such a way that it would not overburden the passengers too, the DC has revised the minimum fare to Rs 25.

Now the minimum fare is Rs 25 for the first 1.5 km (maximum three passengers), after which every kilometre will be charged Rs 14.Moreover it is known that there will be no waiting charges for the first 15 minutes, but thereafter 45 minutes of waiting will cost Rs 25. Luggage weighing 20 kg will be free, but additional weight will be charged at Rs 2 per kg. The driver can charge the passenger upto 1.5 times the meter fare  between 10 pm and 5 am.
