Mangaluru: Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilizer and Parliament Affairs Ananth Kumar said that Mangaluru will be the ideal location for setting up of the plastic park project, at an estimated cost of Rs 1000 crore which would provide employment opportunity for 30000 people in the district.
He was speaking after the inauguration of a workshop and launch of five generic centers of ‘Pradanamantri Bharathiya Janaaushadi Pariyojana’ organized by ‘Matrubhoomi Sauhardha Sahakari Niyamitha’ at TV Ramana Pai hall here on Saturday, April 22.
He urged MP Nalin Kumar to speak with MRPL, MCF and pressurise the State government to go ahead with the plastic park project and ensure its effective implementation.
Speaking on the ‘Pradanamantri Bharathiya Janaaushadi Pariyojana’ he said, “India is also a global power in pharmaceuticals. Out of five medicines consumed globally two are produced from India. One lakh crore medicines are being exported to 216 countries from India. Earlier there were 99 generic centers in the country but Narendra Modi government has started 1100 centers in last one year.
Further he added that MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has assured of opening 100 generic centers in Dakshina Kannada. Around 650 essential medicines for various diseases are available at a lower price at these centres in line with the government’s aim to provide essential medicines at affordable prices for poor and needy in the society.
He also said that drug-eluting stent which cost more than Rs 100000 will be available at Rs 30000 and the common stent for Rs 7500. The intention of Modi government is to provide health security to poor class in the society.
He also requested the doctors of Indian Medical Association to prescribe generic medicines instead of branded medicines to the people adding that he had written to health minister urging that doctors compulsorily prescribe the generic medicines.
Nalin Kumar Kateel honored Union ministers Ananth Kumar and Ramesh Jigajinagi.
Union minister Ramesh Jigajinagi also spoke on this occasion and lauded MP Nalin for bringing Rs 30 crore fund from centre for various development programmes in the district.
Nalin Kumar Kateel also requested to sanction the proposal of Rs 5,500 crore under ‘one drop more crop’ project.
