Udupi : Sri Vidyavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Kaniyoor Mutt, the next Paryaya Seer was accorded a grand welcome on his Pura Pravesha on January 2, Thursday. The Kaniyoor Seer is set to ascend the Paryaya Peetha during the Paryayotsava scheduled to be held on January 18. The Pura Pravesha ritual is held after the next Paryaya seer returns after a pre-Paryaya tour to pilgrim centres across the nation

























As part of Pura Pravesha, a colourful procession was held from Jodukatte to Carstreet . The Kaniyoor Seer was taken in the procession seated on a chariot.
Folk artistes including Dollu Kunitha artistes, bhajan teams, band sets, Chende troupes all added splendour to the procession.
The District Administration also arranged a felicitation function for the seer in the evening. Udupi District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Urban Development Vinaykumar Sorake who participated in the function, said Udupi will get the tag of heritage town very soon.
Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj informed that a sum of Rs 3 crore has been sanctioned by the government for Paryaya while an equal amount has also been sanctioned for various progress works in the town.
Yuvaraj, President of Udupi CMC, Amritha Krishnamurthi, Vice President of CMC, Raghuram Acharya, Diwan of Kaniyoor Mutt, Raghupathi Bhat, former MLA and others were present at the function.
