Mangaluru: The Zonal Premier Cricket League for Rotarians, organised by all the clubs of Zone 2 and 3 of the Rotary Club District 3181 was inaugurated on Saturday, May 11 at the NMPT Ground.
The event was inaugurated by District Governor Rtn Rohinath P.
Speaking after inaugurating the tournament, DG Rohinath called upon more youth to join the Rotary Club and make the organisation vibrant. He also encouraged the players to show true sportsman spirit in the event.
Played in line with the IPL’s format, the players from different clubs were auctioned to six teams – Maya Paltan, Central Tigers, Metro Wilds, Sanjith Superkings, Sharq United, Janani Jaguars. Six league matches will decide the four teams that will play in the semifinals.
The inaugural match was played between the Janani Jaguars and the Central Tigers.
Assistant Governor Zone 2 Rtn Divakar Amin, Zone 3 Rtn Kiran Rai, DG Elect Rtn Ranganath Bhat, Match officials Rtn Dr Ranjan, Gopal Krishna were present.
