Roshni Nilaya to felicitate alumnus, Padma awardee Sunitha Krishnan

Mangaluru: School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya will felicitate its alumnus, world renowned social worker and Padma awardee Sunitha Krishnan, on Thursday, February 4 at 9.30 am in the college premises.

Krishnan will thereafter address the  students at Roshni Nilaya, said a release from the college.

The Women Empowerment Icon of India Sunitha Krishnan will be visiting Mangalore on 4th and 5th February 2016. She is an activist who has received various awards including India’s fourth highest civilian award the Padma Shri this year.

Krishnan works in the areas of anti-human trafficking, emotional rehabilitation and social policy. She has worked relentlessly to bring about a change in the attitude

Of India’s government for victim-friendly policies as well as an awareness regarding sex trafficking, through political, legal and media advocacy.

Her organization, Prajwala, has an international reputation and Krishnan is regularly consulted, in addition to the Indian authorities, by the United Nations and the US government.
