Mangaluru: Roshni Nilaya, School of Social Work held the inaugural function on “HR Disruption, Explore, Evolve, Energize” on Tuesday, April 4.

The chief guest of the programme was Charles Carvalho, Senior Manager, Human Resources, VVF India Ltd, Mumbai.

Asha Lobo, Asst Professor, School of Social Work welcomed the dignitaries – Charles Carvalho, Dr Jenis P Mary, Vice Principal; Nawaz, Secretary of HR Forum and Dr. Sebastian K V, Faculty Coordinator, Personnel Management & Industrial Relations – on the dias and gave their introduction.

The invocation “Prabhutu mera sahara” was led by Jason and the team. The event was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp. Prof. Dr. Sebastian gave the bird’s eye view on human resource disruption. Keynote address to Chales Carvalho was given by Joel, 1st MSW.

Charles Carvalho, the key note speaker for the conference kept his speech short by saying a few words such as he strongly believed learning could be fun and he was there to learn from the students. He also expressed his desire to interact with as many students as he could. He expressed his belief that, “It is not true that only the audience gets to learn by these conferences but even the speaker learns a lot.”

Carvalho also released the theme song for HR Disruption on the occasion.

Dr. Sebastian K V gave an insight on disruption. He started by quoting a Greek philosopher Heraclitus- “Everything flows, Nothing stands still” and said, “The only constant in life is change”. Talking about disruption, he said that disruptive change happens due to the changes around us. “A disruptive innovation is an element that creates a new market, a value network and eventually disrupts an existing market and value network, displacing established market leading firms, products and alliances”, defined and analyzed Clayton M. Christensen, Harvard Business School.

The Presidential speech was given by Dr Janis P Mary who said that this was a great opportunity for everyone present there to exchange their knowledge and experiences, to come up with new ideas.
