Kasaragod: In a shocking incident, five persons robbed Rs 2.70 crore from a jeweler at Cherkala. The incident took place on August 3, but the complaint was filed on August 20.

The complainant, Ganesh, reportedly told Vidyanagar police that he was hoping to retrieve the lost money, so he took time to approach police for help.

Ganesh, a jeweler, was on his way from Pune to Tellicherry in his Innova car. He was carrying the cash to deliver it to a jeweler in Tellicherry. Girish was driving the car. At Cherkala, another car hit Ganesh’s car and five persons waylaid them. They threatened Ganesh showing a revolver and robbed him of Rs 2.70 crore cash.

The police sources are investigating the case closely. As time was taken to lodge a complaint, there are serious doubts that the money must be from Hawala transaction. The police are also looking into the call logs of Ganesh and Girish.
