Right wing activist murder: Moodbidri still tense

Moodbidri: Chaos erupted in Moodbidri town when miscreants pelted stones on five shops on Friday evening, after a right wing activist cum flower vendor was hacked to death by an unidentified group.

This resulted in a large crowd gathering at the spot. Police had to resort to mild lathi-charge to disperse the crowd. A case has been registered at Moodbidri police station.

The situation in Moodbidri turned tense soon after the killing.  Police personnel were deployed at key locations in the town to prevent any untoward incident. Meanwhile, a few miscreants allegedly assaulted media persons when they reached the spot to report the incident.

Heavy police force was deployed in Moodbidri town and other parts of the district and no untoward incident was reported in the district till 8.30 pm.

Flower merchant hacked to death in Moodbidri

Moodbidri: A flower merchant has been hacked to death by a group of unidentified men on Friday morning. Prashanth(29) from Hosabettu is the deceased.

The crime took place here on Friday morning, when the victim was carrying flowers to his shop at 7 am. The group which was hiding behind an Auto rickshaw park attacked him with deadly weapons. He was immediately taken to a private hospital in Mangaluru, but succumbed to his severe injuries.

It is learnt that Prashanth was involved in right wing activities.
