Under the chairmanship of Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr. Anandh K, IAS, the district-level review committee (DLRC) meeting for Dakshina Kannada was convened at Netravati Hall of Zilla Panchayat office, Mangaluru.
During the meeting, the lead district officer provided an overview of the achievements and progress of the district’s banking sector. Dr. Anandh K expressed concern over banks falling short of targets in enrolling people in PMJJBY, PMSBY, and Swanidhi schemes.
He emphasized the need for proper planning and execution to reach the target population effectively. Dr. Anandh K highlighted the importance of making customers aware of the benefits of these schemes and urged banks to improve their communication strategies.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Anandh K stressed the importance of attending to pending applications under government schemes and ensuring that rejections come with proper reasons. He also emphasized the rising concerns of financial security and banking frauds, urging for public awareness campaigns on safeguarding against scams and online frauds.
Kavitha Shetty, LDCM, LDO, DK, presented the district’s banking statistics, indicating a year-on-year growth of 15.73% in total business, amounting to Rs 1,15,793.81 crore as of December 31, 2023.
Thanu Nanjappa, manager, FIDD RBI, highlighted the significance of digital banking, encouraging banks in DK to ensure at least one digital product. Antony Raj, AGM, Canara Bank, and Sangeetha S Kartha, DDM Nabard, were also present at the meeting.
