Revenue officers seize foreign currency notes at Airport

Mangaluru: Acting on intelligence officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Mangaluru with the assistance of Customs Department at the Mangaluru International Airport intercepted a passenger and seized over Rs 54.74 lakh.

According to the press release, the passenger is identified as Kamar Mohamed Moula Kadira (35), native of Nawayat Mohalla, Manki, Honnavar, Uttara Kannada. 

The officers seized huge quantity of foreign currency notes of different countries.  The foreign currency seized include more than US-Dollars, more than 50,000 Saudi Riyals, assorted foreign currencies like British Pounds, Qatar Riyals, Oman Riyals, Bahrain Dinars, Kuwait Dinars.  The total value of the currency under seizure is Rs.54,74,754, the press release further stated.

Kamar Mohamed Moula was to travel to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia via Dubai (UAE) in Air India Flight IX 813 on March 11. 

During the interrogation, he admitted the offence. He was arrested and produced before the Court.
