Mangaluru: A bus to generate awareness on Social and Education Survey will ply across the district from Monday, with Revenue Minister Srinivas Prasad flagging off the mobile awareness campaign at the circuit house here today.
The Minister gave the green signal to the bus to move around the district spreading information on the much awaited caste census, by waving a green flag. The bus integrated with loud speaker publicizes the need of the survey.

Prasad addressing the press said the survey was carried out with the aim of providing social justice. “Equality should be materialized on the ground and survey would enumerate current social and educational state of people belonging to various castes in the state,” he expressed.
Besides, he told scribes, that the government was mulling to carve out 43 new taluks in the state. The committee constituted to study this issue has already recommended 38 new places which have the potential take the shape as taluks.
He informed also, that the expansion of the runway of the Mangaluru airport in the pipeline was currently pending owing new ordinance for land acquisition promulgated by the union government. The Congress at the national level had opposed the nine amendments brought to the land acquisition act 2013 passed by UPA government.
When a reporter from one of the television channels brought an individual case of revenue files missing, minister instructed deputy commissioner to look into the matter to resolve the problem.
